Blackwall Point

Blackwall Point is the northernmost point of the Greenwich Peninsula in the East End of London . This area is located on the south bank of the Thames and belongs to the Greenwich district of London and not to the Blackwall district north of the Thames .

This area is named after the river section of the Thames, the Blackwall Reach .

From the 1890s to 1981, the Blackwall Point power station , a coal-fired power station , was in operation at Blackwall Point . Today the London Soccerdome is located on the site and The O₂ is in the northern neighborhood . Also known as the Millennium Dome , the largest self-supporting building in the UK.
