Bladen Lakes State Forest (BLSF) is the largest state forest in North Carolina at approximately 13,300 hectares .

It is located near Elizabethtown and is administered by the North Carolina State Forest Service (NC Forest Service). The forest has three geographically separate areas and is divided into eight departments. The woods are included superimposed on the "Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest" ( Training Forest ), the Jones Lake State Park and Singletary State Park all nature reserves, which also belong to the state of North Carolina.

BLSF is a so-called working forest, which means that it has to generate its own income and is not financially supported by the state. The income is made up of the annual logging , the sale of pine straw and the distribution of charcoal . In addition, the forest receives income from hunting . BLSF has many special landforms, such as the "Carolina Bays". These are egg-shaped indentations in the landscape, some of which form lakes. They are overgrown with moisture-loving plants and are almost impenetrable. Dry dune chains are another special part of the landscape that can be found particularly in the southeast of the bays. There are also river plains, swamps and moors in the BLSF .
