The Blair Islands are a group of small islands off the George V coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . They are 6 km west of Cape Gray on the east side of the entrance to Commonwealth Bay .
Participants in the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914), led by the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson, discovered the islands. Mawson named it after John Hamilton Blair (1889-1972), a senior officer on the research ship Aurora on this expedition.
