The Cape Gray is a cape on the East Antarctic Georg V. Coast . It is on the east side of the entrance to Commonwealth Bay . The cape is actually a small rock island connected to the continental ice sheet by an ice bridge .
Participants of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered the cape. Mawson named it after Percy Gray (1888-1944), second officer on the research ship Aurora on this expedition.
