Blanca Rosa Gil

Blanca Rosa Gil (born August 26, 1937 in Perico ), known as La Muñequita que Canta , is a Cuban bolero singer .

Gil came from a wealthy Cuban family and came to Venezuela as a child. There she hired the producer Arístides Borrego for a children's program called Humo y Fantasía . At the age of eighteen she began her musical career in Havana. In 1959 her first LP Sombras was released , followed by the single Cristal the following year . She has appeared at the Ali Bar Cabaret , on radio and television, and toured Chile, Colombia and Venezuela. In 1961 she went to Mexico, where she recorded one of her greatest hits in 1966 with the Bolero Hambre by Rosendo Montiel Álvarez .

With songs like Tu me hiciste mujer , Besos de Fuego and Besos Brujos , she was also present in the 1970s and toured Latin America and the USA. She lived in Miami for several years before settling in Puerto Rico. After turning to Christianity, Gil withdrew from the public eye in 1980. It was not until 1990 that she started recording new albums.
