Blasius Chapel (Bergweiler)
The Blasius Chapel is located in northern Saarland on the Blasiusberg in Bergweiler near Tholey . It looks back on a total of 700 years of history.
Building history
The chapel was first mentioned in a document in 1246 among the properties of the Benedictine Abbey of St Mauritius . After a fire, it was rebuilt in its present form in 1716, as the inscription above the portal reports: "CoLLapsa per IgneM DenVo VratVr". The chapel's choir is Gothic, while the rest is designed in peasant baroque.

In the past , pilgrimages with fairs took place on Blasiustag (February 3) and on St. Mark's Day (April 25), to which the serfs of Tholey Abbey were obliged.
