Blaw-Knox was the leading manufacturer of asphalt pavers and the developer of the first street-wide, pneumatic asphalt paver in 1968 (PF-220). The company goes back to the merger of the steel construction companies Blaw and Knox in 1917. The striking Blaw Knox transmission towers have been built since 1927 . The entry into road construction technology took place in 1929 with the takeover of AW French & Company, a manufacturer of concrete pavers. In 1995, Blaw-Knox took over Ingersoll Rand , which sold the road construction division to Volvo Construction Equipment in 2007 . In July 2020, Volvo sold the company to Gencor.
