Bloody Angle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bloody Angle is a kink in the street on Doyers Street in Chinatown in New York City .

In the 1920s, New York City's Chinatown was heavily influenced by gang wars. Many gangs organized themselves in so-called tongs and fought one another. The Tongs, which partly consisted of a family clan or simply a sworn criminal brotherhood like the On Leong or Hip Sing , repeatedly fought bloody gang fights at the bend in Doyers Street. This earned the place the nickname Bloody Corner . Again and again, members were other bands on flimsy pretexts in the Doyers Street in an ambush enticed. Only an armistice signed in 1933 put an end to the murder.
