Blue Canary

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blue Canary is a song composed by Vincent Fiorino in 1953, known internationally in the 1950s and sung in different languages. Because Slava's Snowshow, who performed with the Russian clown Vyacheslav Ivanovich Polunin , made the Italian version of the song an integral part of their performances, it is still very popular in Russia today.

Versions

The original English version of Dinah Shore was released as a single in 1953 .

The Italian version, also known as Triste Canarino, was recorded by Marisa Fiordaliso in 1954 and appeared both on her album Canzoni and on the album When in Rome, which was created in collaboration with her compatriot Carlo Buti . Also in the 1950s, Fiordaliso recorded the song again with her compatriot Enzo Amadori.

In 1958 a Spanish version of the song was released under the title Canario Triste on an EP by the Spanish singer Elder Barber.

In the 1950s, German versions of the song were also published, initially by the opera singer Renate Holm on the B-side of the single Im Schwarzwald singt ein Finkenpaar and in 1959 by Inga Dontsova.

There is also a Russian version by Yulia Siganschina and a Japanese version by Izumi Yukimura. The band Frank Chickens , which operates in England and consists of Japanese members, also recorded the song, but in English and in a synth-pop style that was previously unfamiliar to the song .
