Blue Friend ( Japanese ブ ル ー フ レ ン ド , Burū Furendo ) is a completed manga series by the author Fumi Eban . It is about the love affair between two schoolgirls and belongs to the Yuri genre.

The student Ayumu Kurihara ( 栗 原 歩 ) initially believes that she has chosen the wrong person sitting next to her. Her beautiful classmate Misuzu Tsukishima ( 月 島 美 鈴 ) has an aversion to boys and seems extremely peculiar with her cold and detached manner. Misuzu has no friends and makes no move to change that, but Ayumu's sincere and kind nature captivates Misuzu. Over time, the two different characters get closer and closer to each other. But Mizusu's style narrows Ayumu more and more, until she finally bursts the collar.

Within Japan, the individual chapters of Blue Friend were published at monthly intervals in the issues 5/2010 to 11/2011 (April 2010 to October 2011) in the magazine Ribon , which is published by Shūeisha and specializes in Shōjo manga . From issue 7/2011 (June 2011), however, the chapters appeared under the title Blue Friend - 2nd season ( ブ ル ー フ レ ン 〜 〜2nd season〜 ).
The individual chapters were later combined into three tankōbon editions, which were also published by Shūeisha under the imprint Ribon Mascot Comics (RMC).

AnimaniA magazine praised the manga as " ... a dramatic story with well-placed highlights ". She also judged that Fumi Eban empathetically captures the funny and tender moments between the protagonists and that the generous page layout and portraits strengthen the reading flow and convey emotions well.
