) is aBluefish is developed by a changing group around Olivier Sessink and distributed as free software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). It is written in the C programming language, has a GTK + -based graphical user interface and runs on most of the POSIX -compatible operating systems such as Linux , FreeBSD , Solaris , macOS and, from version 2.0.0 RC 3, also on Windows .
It offers syntax highlighting for HTML, PHP and various other languages such as Java , Perl , Python , Ruby , C and Pascal and cross-file search / replace. Since it was developed primarily for HTML, it contains a toolbar for the usual HTML tags and dialogs for the attributes of such tags. In addition, external programs can be integrated very easily and the range of functions expanded.
Bluefish also has a kind of generator for cascading style sheets .
history
Development began in 1997 in two separate projects by Chris Mazuc and Olivier Sessink ( ProSite ), which were later merged under the name Thtml editor . The current name came after a hand drawing of a blue fish was proposed and accepted as the logo by Neil Millar on the developer mailing list. In early 2005, appeared on LaTeX specialized elimination Winefish .
