West Lodge is just off the A847 that connects Bridgend with Port Charlotte and Portnahaven . The building, which dates from the early 19th century, is entered from the south through a small porch protruding from the center of the front. This is symmetrically surrounded by five lattice windows. The upper floor ends with a gable roof . On both sides there are single-storey wings, which also end with gable roofs. All facades are plastered using the traditional Harling technique; the roofs are covered with slate shingles.
The two beds on both sides of the entrance area are surrounded by low stone walls. These end at two pillars with square bases, which taper in a pyramid shape at the top and mark the beginning of the access path.
