Bob Dadae
Sir Robert Dadae (born March 8, 1961 ) is a politician from Papua New Guinea and since February 28, 2017, as Governor General, the first representative of the head of state Queen Elisabeth II .
Career
From 1970 to 1975 Dadae attended the Ombo Lutheran Agency in Derim . He then attended Bugandi High School and finally studied at the University of Papua New Guinea with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1988. He received another degree in 1995 when he received an MBA from Griffith University in Queensland .
He then worked as an accountant for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea, of which he is a member.
Political career
Politically, Dadae first appeared when he won the parliamentary elections in 2002 in the Kabwum constituency in Morobe province for the United Party and was able to enter the country's parliament for the first time. After the successful election he became parliamentary group leader and in 2004 spokesman for the United Party. He prevailed again in the 2007 parliamentary election and was Minister of Defense from August 29, 2007 to August 2, 2011 in the formed cabinet .
On February 28, he was sworn in as governor-general after receiving 55 votes out of 111 in parliament, more than two other candidates for the post. His election was accompanied by calls for a female occupation in the important office, but ultimately no woman was nominated as a candidate.
On April 24, 2017, he was ennobled by Elizabeth II as Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George (GCMG).
