Boca do Inferno
Boca do Inferno (Port. For Hell's Mouth ) is a gorge in the coastal cliffs near the Portuguese city of Cascais .
The waters of the Atlantic have access to the deep bottom of the gorge. At high tide , the waves are pressed into the vertical “rock chimneys” and thrown far up onto land.
The British occultist and poet Aleister Crowley faked his suicide here , which made the place world famous in the early 1930s, as well as through the suicide of the poet Guilherme de Faria .
