Boccia gate

Bocciaforte is a variant of boccia operated in Italy . In some areas the names "Bocetta su Strada", "Boccia su Strada" or "Boccia alla Lunga" are also common. The sport is similar to Boßeln in northern Germany .

Association and clubs

The various associations merged in 1998 to form the ABIS, the Associazione Bocetta su Strada and a little later they also became the International Bowlplaying Association . There are around 2500 to 2600 bocciatori in Italy, with the proportion of women being negligible.

Game operation

The league game operation takes place in 3 classes of 12 teams, the so-called categorias. There are also lower class leagues among them. But the annual final of the team championships is more important.

Play device

In Italy, an iron ball weighing 500 g and measuring 7–8 cm in diameter is thrown.

EM 2012

The 14th Boßel EM will be held for the first time in Italy, in Pesaro , in 2012 .
