International Bowlplaying Association

The International Bowl Playing Association (IBA) is a sports association based in Cork ( Ireland ). He was born in Losser ( Netherlands ) in 1969 at a Boßel competition by Losserse Klootschietersfederatie (LKF), the Irish Ból Chumann na hÉireann (BC, Irish Road Bowling Association), the Frisian Klootschießer-Verband (FKV) and the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Boßler Association (VSHB) to promote the sport of Boßeln internationally and to hold joint competitions. The Nederlandse Klootschietersbond (NKB) has now taken the place of the LKF. For the European Championship 2000, the Associazione Boccetta Italiana su Strada (ABIS) from Italy was added as a further association. The office of President of the IBA is held by Maurizio Della Costanza (Italy).

The IBA is the host of the Boßel European Championship. It has been held every four years since 1980 in one of the member associations. The hosts of the Boßel-EM have so far been Cork (1970, 1977, 1992, 2008), Garding in Schleswig-Holstein (1972, 1984), Jever (1974), Norden in Ostfriesland (1988), Tubbergen in the Netherlands (1980, 1996) , Meldorf in Schleswig-Holstein (2000), Westerstede in Oldenburg (2004), Pesaro in Italy (2012) and Ootmarsum in the Netherlands (2016). In the official count, the Lossau competition in May 1969 is already considered the European championship. The 16th Boßel EM will be held in Schleswig-Holstein in 2020.
