Losser ( listen ? / I ) is a municipality in the east of the Twente region in the Dutch province of Overijssel . It borders on Bentheim ( County of Bentheim ) and Gronau , both in Germany , as well as on Dinkelland , Oldenzaal and Enschede . Audio file / audio sample

Economy and tourism

The community's residents make a living from tourism or agriculture, but there are also many commuters who work in the surrounding cities.

The border village De Lutte consists almost entirely of restaurants, campsites and small hotels. It has an arboretum (Poort Bulten). The spelled flows here, quite wildly in spring, through the sand dunes and forest area Lutterzand.

In 2003 the Westphalian State Garden Show (LAGA) took place in Losser and at the same time in Gronau . The large deficit from this event led to a crisis in Losser's municipal council. Some beautiful buildings and installations at the border, the Franciscans - Kloster Bardel , the km beyond the German border one, remained. The Catholic parish of Lossers has also been on very friendly terms with this monastery since then.

In the tiny village of Glane there is a monastery with an important Syrian Orthodox Church . After the death of Archbishop Julius Yeshu Çiçek , thousands of mourners came to Glane for his funeral on November 5, 2005.
