history

Monument to Hinrich (Hinnerk) Dunkhase in Burhave

The FKV was founded on May 25, 1902 at the instigation of Hinrich Dunkhase (1857-1905) from Butjadingen -Burhave and Gerhard Gerdes (1863-1933) from Ostochtersum by East Frisian and Oldenburg associations. Dunkhase was its first chairman until his death.

In the first few years, the association organized mainly Klootschießer field fights between East Frisia and the Oldenburger Land . These country battles were major sporting events of their time with a folk festival character and were attended and expertly accompanied by thousands of spectators - called Käkler and Mäkler. There were also contacts with Klootschießern in Schleswig-Holstein and international fights in 1903, 1930 and 1938. In the Third Reich , the FKV, like all other sports federations, was subjected to synchronization and dissolved. Boßeln and Klootschießen were appropriated by the Nazis for their purposes.

After the Second World War , the Landesklootschießerverband Ostfriesland was founded in 1947. On its initiative, the meeting to re-establish the FKV was held on November 1, 1947. Meinhard Wieting from Esens was elected chairman. The association was founded in 1951.

Game operation

The FKV organizes the national game operations for the bosses and Klootschießer of its two regional associations.

Klootschießer in the field fight

The Klootschießer field fight is held once a year, if possible on frozen ground, alternately in Oldenburg and East Friesland. Throws will be in the three male age groups youth, juniors and main class. Depending on the weather, the loser of the last meeting calls for this traditional international match by "hanging up" the Klootkugel.

The FKV individual championship in Klootschießen is held once a year as a standing fight "with the Holland ball" in seven female and ten male age groups.

In Straßenboßeln, the national champions from East Friesland and Oldenburg have been determining the FKV team champion since 1963, initially only in the men I age group, gradually also in all other classes, starting with youth F up to men V. In the so-called royal classes - national league men and Landesliga Frauen - the FKV champions are determined in a final round, roughly comparable to the Champions League in football. The top three national league teams from both associations are qualified for this. With a total of 17 FKV titles for men (until 2009), the association "Gute Hoffnung" Pfalzdorf is the record champion, and Ihlowerfehn for women with seven titles.

Individual championships are also contested in all age groups, in which the respective national champions of the two associations take part.

Champion tour

For its top bosses, the association introduced a ranking list throw, known as the Champion Tour, in the 2000/01 season. In ten (from the 2009/10 season eight) competition rounds, 30 throwers (men and women separately) determine the "Bosses of the Year" according to a point system. In years with national or international competitions, the ranking list throwing is also a qualification for the FKV squad.

German and European championships

From 1960 there were regular competitions against the Association of Schleswig-Holsteinischer Boßler (VSHB) in Klootschießen. Together with the (VSHB), the Nordhorner Sport-Kloatscheeter Association (NSKV) and the Klootschießer- und Boßelverband Nordrhein-Westfalen (KBV NRW), the FKV organizes the German championships in Boßeln, which take place every two years (from 2014 every four years) be carried out. The last time FKV hosted the DM in Zetel in 2009.

As a founding member of the International Bowlplaying Association (IBA), FKV takes part in the Boßel European Championships, which have been held every four years since 1980. To this end, the association provides a squad of East Frisian and Oldenburg athletes. The FKV has hosted the Boßel-Euro three times: 1974 in Jever, 1988 in Norden and 2004 in Westerstede .
