The Bocksmühle is a water mill near Schermen in Saxony-Anhalt . Today it is used as a restaurant for excursions.

location

The mill is located west of Schermen on the course of the Beeke , which still drives a water wheel today . The railway line from Magdeburg to Berlin runs immediately to the west of the mill . The large wooded area of the Külzau Forest is nearby .

history

In 1806 the mill was mentioned as Schermensche Mühle . The Müller Bock , on which the name is common today, ground grain especially for the Schermen farmers. With the emergence of industrial steam-powered mills, the watermill became uneconomical around 1900. In 1910 the conversion to the Bocksmühle excursion restaurant took place. Due to its location near the Külzau Forest, the restaurant was particularly popular with visitors from the nearby cities of Burg and Magdeburg. From 1953, however, the mill was only used as a residential building. After the political change in 1989 , however, a restaurant for excursions, the Bauernstube Bocksmühle , was opened again in 1991 .

Today's restaurant offers 40 seats in two guest rooms. There are 20 more seats on a veranda and 50 more in the beer garden.
