A body kit ( English body kit ) is a body kit for motor vehicles, usually a styling kit in the car tuning range, consisting of a front bumper , side and rear. The body kit was originally intended to optimize the driving characteristics and aerodynamics of a vehicle. The special construction of the add-on parts and the contact pressure of the car on the ground can reduce both air resistance and fuel consumption. The body kit can be replaced by other spoilers , e.g. B. add rear spoiler, roof spoiler, air scoops and hoods. Body kits are also available for trucks in order to improve the corresponding aerodynamic properties.

The extreme form is the Wide Bodykit, a wide body kit. However, this is only found in the autotuning area. The assembly of a wide body kit usually goes hand in hand with a changed chassis setup, wide wheel-tire combinations and extensive bodywork.

Before a body kit can be used in road traffic, it must have both a general operating permit and be checked by an officially recognized assessor for everyday suitability.
