Bogufał II.
Bogufał II ( Bogufalus ) was Bishop of Poznań (Posen) from 1240 to 1253 , long before the Bishopric of Posen was elevated to the Archbishopric of Posen in 1821 . He initiated the recording of the annals of the Poznan cathedral chapter. Above all, however, he initiated the creation of the Chronica Poloniae Maioris ("Wielkopolska Chronicle"), one of the most important sources on the first centuries of Polish history . Bogufał II already knows the Pomeranian sub-tribe of the "Caszubitae", i.e. the Kashubians .
The name Boguchwał means "Praise to God ", consisting of Bóg ("God") and chwała ("Praise"). The name boguufał means "the God trusted" from Bóg ("God") and ufać ("trust").
