A plank wall is a wall that is created by stacked planks that are guided in a groove in the delimiting vertical beam. Modern plank walls sometimes also use a tongue and groove connection between the planks.

Plank walls have been used for centuries, for example in post houses in post construction . Raw or painted wood partially formed the inside of the walls. Mud plaster was often applied to the outer walls . So notches, wooden or metal nails were hammered into the planks so that the clay adheres better to the plank.
