The Altstadtfreunde Nürnberg have been running the Museum | 22 | 20 | 18 | in these rooms since autumn 2011 Kühnertsgasse.

history

The oldest house at number 22 was originally built in 1377 as a two-story half - timbered house. The other two houses were built by 1434.

The residents rebuilt several times in the following centuries and applied plaster to the framework. Numerous things were also damaged and destroyed in the interior: half-timbered and brick walls replaced the plank walls, wall paintings were whitewashed and much more.

These craftsmen's houses suffered only minor damage in the air raids on Nuremberg. However, decades of vacancy severely damaged the building fabric. The monument protection that has existed since 1974 prevented the demolition.

Redevelopment

The old town friends of Nuremberg took over the houses in 2002 for a symbolic purchase price of one euro and thus initiated the rescue of the historic houses of the redsmiths. The city of Nuremberg and the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments supported the building project with grants and loans. Construction work began in 2005 and was completed in 2010.
