The Nuremberg Fire Brigade Museum shows the history of German fire fighting in Nuremberg .

overview

The Nuremberg fire brigade has built up an important collection of fire brigade history in recent years and bears witness to this development from all epochs. The holdings range from the signal horn of the tower keeper to the water skids and the first fire engines from the turn of the century to modern extinguishing devices. A richly stocked collection of uniforms is not missing, as are numerous models and small exhibits on the history of the fire service. The oldest exhibits in the approximately 250 m² exhibition area include stick syringes and certificates from the 15th century as well as a piece of the first wooden Nuremberg water pipe. The whole thing is supplemented by a comprehensive fund of historical source material. The collection of historical devices is located in the fire station 3 (Jakobsplatz 20, 90402 Nuremberg) of the Nuremberg fire department. From 2012 to summer 2013 the fire brigade museum in Nuremberg received a fundamental renovation and redesign. The collection can be viewed every first Saturday of the month from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Special tours are offered for groups.

Support association

In 2000 the Friends of the Nürnberger Feuerwehr-Museum e. V., who set itself the goal of supporting the historical collection. As of 2015, the friends' association had around 250 members who actively or passively set up and maintain the museum.

Exhibits

It is not possible to view the existing vehicles, trailers, hand pressure sprayers, horse-drawn teams, steam sprayers, motorcycles, fire trucks and historical ladders. These large exhibits are not accessible to the public in depots, for example in the congress hall and the former paved road.
