Boland Kelder
Boland Kelder (also known as Boland Cellar in export ) in Paarl is one of the best wineries in South Africa . Originally founded as a cooperative , Boland Cellar is now a private company in the majority ownership of the grape-delivering farmers. These are processed exclusively, there is no purchase of grapes.
The company has received numerous important awards over the past few years:
- 2001: Altus le Roux, winery director and head cellar master was awarded "Winemaker of the year" at the International Wine & Spirits Competition "Winemaker of the Year", he received the "Robert Mondavi Trophy" in London.
- 2001: Also at the IWSC, Boland Cellar was honored for the “World's Best Shiraz ” (1998 vintage) - Chris Hancock Trophy - and the “World's Best Cabernet Sauvignon ” (1999) - Warren Winarski Trophy. Due to the other placements (silver for the 1999 Pinotage , two bronze medals), the title was still awarded as "Best South African Producer"
- 2003: "World's Best Shiraz" (born in 2000) at IWSC.
- 2005: “Best Overseas Producer” at Mundus Vini , a German wine competition.
There are also more than one hundred gold and double gold / large gold medals internationally.
