Bollmühle

history

The first mill in Veldrom was built in 1609 under the aegis of Count Simon VI. However, before it was commissioned, the mill fell victim to the flames. The Vogt zu Kempen, who was in the service of the Paderborn prince-bishop, was accused of arson. A new building was built a little to the west of it in the years 1663 to 1665, the mill ditch was built in 1667. The tenant was the miller Johann Jörgen Laue, who handed the mill over to his son Johann in 1713. His successor was Johann Daniel Reineken in 1761, followed by Müller Pollmann (1774). One of his descendants bought the mill and the bakery in 1816. Until then, the mill services had to be provided free of charge by the citizens of Veldroms and Grevenhagen; after the sale, the services were limited to the Veldromes. On October 8, 1839 Colon Blanke acquired the Bollmühle. After a fire in 1845 he rebuilt it. His nephew Adolf Schlueter planned the construction of a windmill at the beginning of the 20th century, but it was never realized. The last miller was his son Werner from 1950 to 1958, then the business was closed. The “An der Bollmühle” path, laid out in 1975, leads through the former mill pond. At the end of the 1970s, smaller ponds were created again to the right and left of the path.
