The language Bomu (ISO 639-3: bmq; also called bobo, bobo wule, boomu, bore, western bobo oule, western bwamu and western crveni bobo ) is one of 4 Bwa languages from the language group of the Gur languages , out of a total of 158,000 People from the ethnic groups of the Bwa (sing. Bonuu) and Bobo in Mali and Burkina Faso is spoken. In Mali, Bomu has had the status of a national language since July 19, 1982, along with 9 other languages.
In Burkina Faso, the language is spoken by 56,000 (1991) people in the province of Kossi ; in Mali, the language is spoken by 102,000 people along the Bani River .
The language has three dialects and several sub-dialects: dwemu, dahanmu and mao. The subdialects of Dwemu are: terekongo (terekoungo), wahu (between the rivers Téné and Bani) and togo. The subdialects of Dahanmu are koniko, mandiakuy and bomborokuy.
