Bondage tape is a 5 to 7 cm wide strip of thin plastic, such as PVC . It is available in various colors on rolls of around 18 m in length. Unlike conventional adhesive tape , neither side of the tape is provided with an adhesive layer. Due to the smooth surface, it adheres adhesively , similar to cling film .

A bondage tape is used in the area of erotic restraint to tie someone up, to gag someone, to blindfold someone or to fix a butt plug in its position. Bondage tape can easily be removed and only sticks to itself, not to skin, hair or furnishings. After use, the tape can be wound back (more or less) wrinkle-free onto a roll; in an emergency it can be cut open with scissors or the like.

As long as the bondage tape lies flat on the body, the risk of blood vessels being pinched off is lower than with ropes, for example . However, twisting the ligament can also create narrowed and pinching areas and possibly lead to the blood circulation being disturbed or interrupted, so that numbness occurs.
