Tristan Taormino (born May 9, 1971 in Syosset, Nassau County , New York ) is a feminist writer, columnist and porn director.

She received her BA in American Studies from Wesleyan University in 1993 and was accepted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic community . Tristan Taormino is the niece of the author Thomas Pynchon .

Career

Taormino is the author of four books, including the Firecracker Book Award- winning work The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women . She also made two videos based on the book. The first she co-directed with John Stagliano and Ernest Greene , and the second she also directed. In 2006 she made the porn film Chemistry for Vivid Entertainment Group , which was followed by three sequels. Her films belong to feminist pornography, which focuses on ethically correct production conditions, sex-positive representations and an emphasis on female pleasure.

She is the author of twelve editions of the Lambda Literary Award winning work Best Lesbian Erotica , an annual anthology published by Cleis Press , for which she collaborates with writers such as Heather Lewis , Jewelle Gomez, Jenifer Levin, Chrystos , Joan Nestle, Patrick Califia , Amber Hollibaugh, Cheryl Clarke, Michelle Tea and Felice Newman worked together.

She was a columnist for The Village Voice , Taboo , and Velvet Park . She is the former editor of On Our Backs , the oldest lesbian sex magazine in the United States. Taormino has been featured in more than 200 publications including The New York Times , Redbook , Cosmopolitan , Glamor , Entertainment Weekly , Details , New York Magazine , Men's Health, and Playboy .

She teaches at colleges and universities such as Yale , Brown , Columbia , Smith , Vassar , Swarthmore, and New York University (NYU).

In 2004 she starred in Spike Lee's film She Hate Me . In the film Shortbus by John Cameron Mitchell , she was in 2006 orgies scene sex were identified as so-called "Sextra" as in the production of extras for a involved.
