Michelle Tea
Michelle Tea (born in 1971 as Michelle Tomasik ) is an American author of prose and narrative poetry . In her work she deals with queer identity and culture, feminism , racism , classes, prostitution and autobiographical issues. She also organizes literary events.
Life
Tea grew up in Chelsea, Massachusetts and now lives in San Francisco . By her own account, she worked as a horoscope writer and sex worker before becoming a writer. She has been married to Dashiell Lippman since 2013.

Tea's work includes volumes of poetry such as “The Beautiful: Collected Poems” (2003), the novels “Valencia” (2000) and “Rose of No Man's Land” (2006), and autobiographical writings such as “Rent Girl” (2004), “The Chelsea Whistle "(2002), and" The Passionate Mistakes and Intricate Corruption of One Girl in America "(1998). She edited various anthologies dealing with feminist issues, queer culture and class origins. Michelle Tea is the Artistic Director of RADAR Productions , a nonprofit that hosts poetry competitions and other literary events. Together with Sini Anderson she founded the spoken-word tour Sister Spit in 1994 , in which women and lesbians presented texts and performances on American stages . On the American women's website xoJane , she runs a blog with the title “Getting Pregnant With Michelle Tea” (German: “Getting pregnant with Michelle Tea”). In the blog she addresses the problems of queer people who want a child like them.
