Bonn theater award

The Bonn Theater Prize is since 2007 at the end of each season by the Friends of Chamber Games awarded Bonn in two categories. The main prize “Thespis” is awarded for a performance by a member of the ensemble of the municipal theater. It consists of an opaque cube with scenic images of the prize winner, made by the Bonn sculptor Sidika Kordes, and is endowed with 1000 euros. Two side prizes endowed with 500 euros are awarded for a different artistic stage performance or for non-artistic staff.

The winners are determined by a selection of members and a jury. Previous "Thespis" award winners were Anke Zillich (2008), Birte Schrein (2009), Hendrik Richter (2010), Bernd Braun (2011), Maria Munkert (2012), Rolf Mautz (2013), Wolfgang Rüter (2014), Sörg Wunderlich (2015), Glenn Goltz (2016), Mareike Hein (2017), Hajo Tuschy (2018) and Lena Geyer (2019); In the category “Other artistic achievements”, Stefan Heiseke (2009 for direction), Michael Barfuß (2010 for music), Günter Riebl (2011 for stage technology), Thilo Beu (2012 for theater photography), Angelika Schmidt (2017 for Soufflage), Andreas Stubenrauch (2018 for Inspiziens), Jan Schulze (2019 for the management of the production and workshops) and the productions "Waffenschweine" (2014 for a socially relevant piece), "Job" (2015 for the sensible staging), "Pictures of us" (2016 for the choice of the play, the empathy and the seriousness of the director), "BND - Big Data is watching you" (2017 for the socio-political relevance of the play and the scene editing by the director), "Heilige Johanna der Schlachthöfe "(2018 for timeless stage design and illusion-destroying imagery) and" One long day's journey into the night "(2019 for the associative stage design and movement direction).
