Bonnie Owens
Bonnie Owens (born October 1, 1929 as Bonnie Campbell in Blanchard , Oklahoma , † April 24, 2006 in Bakersfield ) was an American country singer.
At the age of sixteen she married Buck Owens, who was then unknown . In 1951 the couple moved to Bakersfield soon after, but the marriage ended in divorce.
Bonnie had already recorded a few singles when she recorded the duet with Merle Haggard Just Between The Two Of Us in 1964. The single became a hit and brought them an ACM Award for "Best Vocal Group". A year later, Merle and Bonnie married. In addition to working with her husband, she has also produced some quite successful solo records. In 1975 she ended her career as a singer and from then on only worked as a songwriter . In 1978, the marriage with Merle Haggard was divorced.
Bonnie Owens died on April 24, 2006 at Bakersfield Hospice at the age of 76.
