Booby Island is a small island about 100 meters in diameter in the Caribbean . It is located in the eastern part of the approximately three kilometer wide strait between St. Kitts and Nevis , The Narrows , and is part of the island state of the same name . The distance to St. Kitts is around 1.7 km and Nevis is 2.4 km. The island is named after the English name for the gannet birds . The island has been under protection as the Booby Island Nature Reserve since 2005.
