Boogaloo Joe Jones

Ivan Joseph "Boogaloo Joe" Jones (* 1940 in Birmingham , Alabama ) is an American jazz guitarist .

Life

Jones participated in Prestige Records' soul jazz sessions from the second half of the 1960s , including a. with Richard Holmes , Wild Bill Davis , Houston Person and most recently Willis Jackson in the late 1970s, with whom he performed in the Netherlands. In 1970 he took part in a session with Lee Morgan , Hubert Laws and Harold Mabern . Starting in 1967, he made a series of recordings for Prestige under his own name, on which Ron Carter , Ben Dixon , Bernard Purdie , Rusty Bryant , Sonny Phillips and Charles Earland also participated. The sessions were z. Part of the Legends of Acid Jazz series. In the field of jazz, Jones can be heard in 17 recording sessions between 1966 and 1978.
