Boom Trikes ( spelling BOOM TRIKES ) is a trike manufacturer based in Sontheim an der Brenz .

history

Construction of the first prototypes began in September 1989. On January 29, 1990, the sole proprietorship BOOM Exklusivfahrzeuge was founded by Christine and Wolfgang Merkle and Hermann Böhm, which later became BOOM TRIKES Fahrzeugbau GmbH . After moving, the company has been based in Sontheim / Brenz in Swabia since 1992 .

The first trike, the Highway I series, was equipped with wide tires and the engine of a VW Beetle . In 1992 the Highway II series was presented at the Frankfurt International Motor Show.

Since 1997 the company has been the first trike manufacturer to be certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 . In 1998, EU approval was achieved for all Boom models, so that approval within the EU was possible.

Outside of Europe, Boom also delivers vehicles to almost every country in the world. Boom trikes not only drive in the Alps , but also in Africa , Australia , the Andes and on the highways overseas.

In 2017, Boom Trikes presented the world's fastest trike with a new 2.0-l turbo engine and a maximum speed of 216 km / h, as well as the all-electric e-Cruiser, at the IAA in Frankfurt .
