The Borgerdådsmedalje was a civil merit medal in Norway, which was introduced by royal decree on April 10, 1819. It was last awarded in 1995 and abolished in spring 2004.

It was awarded by the King at the proposal of the Department of Justice.

It had two classes: 1st class in gold and 2nd class in silver. The silver medal of merit was no longer awarded after 1960.

It was awarded for special diligence and special ability in arbitration, settlement and dispute settlement and similar tasks, and for civil service to the Reich. From 1884 also for zealous administration and other meritorious services of any kind and also for a single special act. This allowed people to be honored who refused to accept the Order of St. Olav . The medal bore the portrait of King Karl Johann until it was replaced by the image of Håkon VII in 1907 .
