The Borgstova in Vikøyri (2009)

The Borgstova is a building built in 1864 in Vikøyri in the Norwegian municipality of Vik . It originally belonged to the Sjøtun officers' farm and housed the farm staff. Sjøtun was known as the officers' or chief's yard, as officers who worked at the Viksmoen parade ground in Vik lived here . When Borgstova in Vik is mentioned today, only the Sjøtun farm building is meant.

The building is a log cabin and originally had six rooms: a mangers' room, a room for the maids and servants , a tool room , a kitchen with a fireplace and a sheepfold. Buildings of this type were quite common on courtyards at that time.

After the Second World War , Borgstova was used as a residential building until 1970. Today the building, which has been restored in the meantime, is managed by a foundation that rents it to individuals or organizations for cultural events and gatherings.
