Boris Revut , also Boris Revout , Russian Борис Исаакович Ревут , (born August 19, 1947 in St. Petersburg ) is a Russian-German scientist, inventor and writer.

Life

Boris Revut was born in St. Petersburg in a scientific family. Revut studied organic chemistry at the Pedagogical State University of St. Petersburg (Leningrad) from 1965 to 1970 . He graduated with a thesis in the field of organophosphorus chemistry. This work was recognized as one of the best in the young researchers' competition. At the same time he studied English language and literature at this university. Revut worked for a large research company in the cellulose and paper industry for over twenty years , where he went from engineer to chief expert. Revut received his PhD in Colloid and Nanochemistry from the Chemistry Faculty of St. Petersburg State University . His doctoral thesis was devoted to the problem of force microscopy. Research into the mechanisms of interactions between nanoparticles and surfaces of different nature partially favored the development of the first force microscopes. For the last work, three researchers: Ernst Ruska, Gerd Binnig and Heinrich Rohrer were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1986. The results of Revut's doctoral thesis have been incorporated into colloid and nanochemistry textbooks. The following activity of Revut was devoted to the research of important questions of ecology , where he had made over 50 inventions which had been protected by Russian patents and were awarded honorary prizes. In the years 1996–2002 Revut was managing director of the Institute for Biotechnology Applications in Environmental Protection and Medicine in Hamburg, where some of his scientific ideas were realized. Revut has been a book author since 2006. He has now written a total of 21 books in Russian and German.

Personal

Revut is married. His wife Natalia Revut is a painter. Among other things, she illustrated his books. The couple has a son and a grandson.
