The Botanical Garden Bern is the botanical garden of the University of Bern at Altenbergrain 21 in Bern , Switzerland .

Bern's first botanical garden was set up in Marzili in 1789 and moved to the Harnischturm at Langmauerweg 110 in 1796, where it existed until 1815. In 1804 there was another botanical garden in the courtyard of today's city library. It was moved in 1862 to the location of today's garden in Rabbental, the construction of which began in 1859.

The Bern Botanical Garden has an area of ​​over two hectares with seven glass houses, where about 6000 plant species grow. A special feature is the Alpinum with a large selection of Swiss alpine plants as well as alpine plants from the Asian and North American regions. The palm house shows humid tropical crops (banana, pineapple, sugar cane, coffee) from the tropical rainforest , the fern house shows plants from the tropical mountain forests such as tree and cycads and a third show house presents the vegetation of the warm, dry semi-deserts.
