Hans Hansen Lindenov , also Lindenow (* around 1558 on the Ørslev Monastery near Viborg , Denmark , † 1620 in India ) was a Danish landlord, captain of the Norwegian fortress of Bergenhus and a judge in North Jutland .

Life

He came from a Danish aristocratic family and was the son of Hans Christoffersen Lindenov (approx. 1524-1610), landlord at Ørslev monastery, and Elsebe Jensen Juul (approx. 1524– before 1627). Lindenov married on June 24, 1603 in Hammershus ( Bornholm , Denmark) the Swede Else (Lisbeth) Andersen Thott (* around 1585 in Skovsgaard , Denmark; † October 13, 1644), the daughter of the Swede Anders Tagesen Thott (around 1548– 1598) and the Dane Lisbeth Folmersen Rosencrantz (approx. 1560– approx. 1613).

Lindenov was best known as a friend of the Faroese sea ​​hero Magnus Heinason , who is buried on Lindenov's estate at Ørslev monastery.

In the Kalmark War (1611-1613) he commanded his private privateer . He was sentenced to the East India Service for piracy (see also: Danish East India Company ).
