Botswana Badminton Association

The Botswana Badminton Association (BBA) is the top national administrative organization in the sport of badminton in Botswana . The association is based in Gaborone .

history

Badminton was brought to Botswana by English colonialists. The centers were the mines Orapa, Selibe Phikwe and Jwaneng, later supplemented by the cities of Gaborone and Francistown. Badminton was widespread in the country in the 1980s, but the association was only founded in 1990 under Ishmael Bhamjee after a first attempt in 1985 failed. The BBA belongs to the BNSC, the Badminton Confederation of Africa and the Badminton World Federation .
