A bottelier (derived from French bouteiller for cellar master ) is the term used in the navy to refer to the manager of the warehouse and the provisions on board the ship. On warships, the bottelier has the rank of non-commissioned officer . The lower chambers, in which the goods are stored, mostly in the back of a ship, are also called bottling.
