history
The trumpeter Marcel Langel (born June 3, 1940 in Lausen BL ) founded the Polly Quartet in 1956 , which played jazz and light music without notes and existed until 1958. In 1957 he founded the Bourbon Street Jazz Band Frenkendorf , initially under the name Sea Dixie Ramblers , which he also directed. All musicians came from Frenkendorf - Pratteln. From 1965 the Dutch Swing College Band influenced the instrumental and musical formation, now playing under the name "Bourbon Street Jazz Band Frenkendorf". Even Chris Barber had a share of the sound. In 1965/66 Langel was able to win the trumpeter of the Dutch Swing College Band, Oscar Klein from Basel, for two rhythmic and musical lessons. In 1966 the group produced their first LP; there were gigs at home and near abroad. Concerts at jazz festivals, appearances with Beryl Bryden , the Piccadilly Six , the DRS Big Band and radio and television appearances on DRS marked the path of the band. 1969, 1971 and 1973 to 1975 Bo Katzman worked as a bassist and singer in the band. In 2004, after 47 years, band leader and founder Marcel Langel broke up the band.
