The Bourgerhof (or Burgerhof or Hof ter Borch ) is a typical farm in the Lower Rhine region in Willich , North Rhine-Westphalia from the 14th century.

history

The Bourgerhof was originally the "Hof ter Borch" or "Hof zur Burg", which meant Linn Castle in Krefeld . It was first mentioned in a document in 1394. As the external property of Linn Castle, it was the personal property of the Archbishop of Cologne and could only be entered or leased with his permission. Consequently, the court was called archbishop's table good .

A sick cross from 1731 in Willich reminds of the residents of that time and the history of the farm. It was built by the notary from the Electorate of Cologne, Johannes Ackers, and his wife Sybilla Borger, owner of the Bourgerhof from ancient peasant nobility, born on February 15, 1693, at today's crossing Heiligenweg / Kreuzstraße in Willich. It bears the inscription

AEC CRVX IN DEI ATQVE BEATTAE VIRGINIS HONOREM POSITA A IOANNE ACKERS NOTARIO SYBILLA BORGER CONIUGIBU translated: This cross was erected in honor of God and the Blessed Virgin by the couple notary Johann Ackers and Sybilla Borger.

Today the Bourgerhof is privately owned.
