Michael Scheidl

Michael Scheidl (* 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian theater director , actor and artistic director of Netzzeit .

In 1979 he obtained a diploma in acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar . From 1979 to 1983 he was an actor and director in Saarbrücken and Krefeld, Germany. Since 1983 he has worked as an actor, producer and director in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg and Brazil for theater, film and television. In 1984, together with Nora Scheidl, he founded netzzeit, a tool for realizing theater ideas. As an actor he played a. a. in films like Please Leave Your Husband and An Almost Perfect Divorce from Reinhard Schwabenitzky or in Austrian series like Kaisermühlen Blues or Workers' saga. In 2005 the two founded out of control - Vienna's Festival for New Music Theater.

Many of netzzeit's works are staged by Michael Scheidl. Overall, the repertoire of his works of Albert Lortzing's Zar und Zimmermann at the Opera Klosterneuburg or The White Horse Inn at the Castle Festival in Langenlois about Hans Werner Henze's Elegy for Young Lovers in Vienna's Odeon, to large multinational avant-garde music theater works, such as Amazon , composed by Klaus Schedl and Tato Taborda, which he staged on behalf of netzzeit, the Munich Biennale and the EU. Over the years Scheidl has staged at the Bregenz and Salzburg Festivals, the Wiener Festwochen, the Volksoper / Vienna, wien modern, Opera 20.21./Bozen, Munich Biennale , SESC-Sao Paulo / Brazil, Biennale Venezia, Budapest Autumn Festival, Klangspuren Schwaz, European Center Hellerau, Lucerne Theater and the Lübeck Theater.
