Renzo Rosso

Renzo Rosso (born September 13, 1955 in Brugine , Province of Padua , Italy ) is an Italian fashion entrepreneur who founded the DIESEL fashion brand in 1978 and still owns it today.

Life

Rosso grew up in the countryside in the Po Valley and from 1971 attended the textile school in Padua, which was founded at the time. After graduating from the technical college, he worked from 1975 under Adriano Goldschmied (now a well-known jeans brand) for his company Moltex. Rosso finally joined forces with Goldschmied and other textile producers in 1978 to form the Genius Group. Various fashion brands that are still known today (2011) emerged from this group, such as Katherine Hamnett , Goldie , Martin Guy , Ten Big Boys and Diesel .

1985 paid Rosso opened the other shareholders in the company Diesel and took over the company itself. In 1996 he made his first store in Manhattan on Lexington Avenue opposite the flagship store of Levi Strauss .

In the years that followed, the company began to expand, and Rosso founded Only the Brave (OTB) holding . Via the subsidiary Staff International (acquired in April 2000) based in Noventa Vicentina (near Padua ), the holding is responsible for production and sales, and in some cases only for the sales of the following brands: Dsquared² (owned by the holding), Maison Martin Margiela (owned by the holding company; all collections except Haute Couture ), Viktor & Rolf (owned by the holding company), Marc Jacobs (men's main line until 2017; under license), Just Cavalli (under license since 2011) and Vivienne Westwood (' Red Label 'for women and men; under license). Rosso is the President of the Holding; The former DIESEL CEO Marina Tosin has been CEO since 2010. Seating is OTB, like that of DIESEL, since 2010 Breganze (previously 8 km away Molvena). At the end of 2012, OTB acquired the majority of the Marni brand established by fashion designer Consuelo Castiglioni .

Rosso lives in Bassano del Grappa in Veneto and has owned the local football club Bassano Virtus 55 Soccer Team since 1996 .

Others

In 1991 Rosso fell in love with the Pelican Hotel in the Art Deco district of south Miami Beach , Florida . By 1994 he had the hotel rebuilt so that each room shows a different character. With this renovation, the hotel pioneered the structural development of this part of Miami Beach.
