Reinhard Palm

Reinhard Palm (born April 30, 1957 in Vöcklabruck , Upper Austria ; † January 15, 2014 in Vienna ) was an Austrian author , translator and dramaturge .

education

Palm grew up in Timelkam, Upper Austria , and attended the Bischöfliche music-pedagogical secondary school in Linz , where he graduated in 1975 . From 1975 to 1978 he studied German, history and philosophy at the University of Salzburg , and from 1978 to 1980 at the University of Vienna ethnology, Arabic and Hebrew. A research stay took him to Jerusalem in 1981 . In 1982 he received his doctorate. phil. with a thesis on pilgrimage and experience of the Orient in the late Middle Ages at the University of Salzburg. Between 1983 and 1988 he lived, translated and researched in Lyon, Arles and Paris. From 2003 to 2007 he studied Sanskrit and Indology at the University of Zurich and from 2005 to 2009 he attended the Yoga University in Villeret, from which he graduated with a diploma from the Swiss Yoga Association (SYV).

Theater work

Palm began his theater work as a dramaturge for his brother, the director and writer Kurt Palm , in Salzburg. In 1984 and 1985 he was dramaturge at the Städtische Bühnen Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1986 to 1987 he worked as a dramaturge at the Burgtheater Vienna, from 1988 and 1989 at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , from 1989 to 1999 chief dramaturge at the Schauspielhaus Zürich , initially with Achim Benning , then from 1992 as deputy to the artistic director Gerd Leo Kuck . In 1999/2000 Palm was interim artistic director at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. As a dramaturge, Palm worked with the directors Barbara Basel , Achim Benning, Jürgen Bosse , Andrea Breth , Henning Brockhaus , Harald Clemen , Werner Düggelin , Matthias Fontheim , Götz Fritsch , Dieter Giesing , Terry Hands , Matthias Hartmann , Alois-Michael Heigl , Uwe Eric Laufenberg , Barbara Liebster , Oswald Lipfert , Lioudmila Meier-Babkina , David Mouchtar-Samorai , Hans Neuenfels , Kurt Palm, Niels-Peter Rudolph , Volker Schmalöer , Peter N. From 2000 onwards, Palm devoted himself increasingly to the processing and translation of material for the theater.

Teaching

In 1983, Palm gave lectures at the Faculté catholique in Lyon on Elias Canetti and Johann Gottfried Herder . Further teaching activities at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur (2001), at the University of Music and Theater Zurich (2001 to 2002), at the Swiss make-up school (2008 to 2010), at the University of Vienna (German studies) (2010 to 2014) and at the Conservatory Vienna private university (drama department) (2010 to 2014).
