Political offices

In October 2008 her party, the Progressive Citizens' Party in Liechtenstein (FBP), nominated her as a candidate for a government councilor. As a result, Frick was elected by the Liechtenstein state parliament on March 25, 2009 and was accepted into the government by Prime Minister Klaus Tschütscher as a member of the government for foreign affairs, justice and culture. Frick has also been a member of the FBP Presidium since 2009. On July 6, 2011 Aurelia Frick married the one year older banker Oliver Muggli in Vaduz , with whom she has two children.

Following the Liechtenstein general election, 2013 Aurelia Frick was the only member of the old government, which is also in the new government under Prime Minister Adrian Hasler sworn was. As a member of the government, she headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture in the subsequent legislative period.

Even after the state elections in 2017 , Frick remained a member of the Liechtenstein government, in which she again assumed responsibility for the foreign affairs, justice and culture departments. Because of a party-internal term of office for members of the government to a maximum of three terms of office, it was already clear at the beginning of the legislative period that it would be the last for Frick.

In the summer of 2019, a conflict broke out between Frick and the Business Audit Commission of the Liechtenstein Parliament (GPK). On July 2, 2019, the Landtag Frick withdrew its confidence in a special session with 21 votes from 23 people present. From among the members of parliament, Frick was accused of budget overruns, lack of transparency, disreputable consulting assignments, careless handling of taxpayers' money, false statements and influencing financial control . According to the Liechtenstein constitution , after the vote of no confidence, Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein also had to agree to Frick's removal, which he did on the same evening. Aurelia Frick lost her office as a member of the government. Until the appointment of her successor, government councilor Mauro Pedrazzini took over her duties on an interim basis ; on November 11, 2019, Katrin Eggenberger took over the department.

In September 2019, Pedrazzini came to the Liechtenstein public prosecutor's office with a description of the facts in accordance with Section 53 of the Code of Criminal Procedure . According to this, an authority must file a complaint if it becomes aware of an ex officio criminal act that affects its legal sphere of activity. In the presentation of the facts, processes in connection with the billing of advisory services were described, whereupon the state police were commissioned by the public prosecutor to ascertain or exclude a criminal offense with investigations.

At the beginning of June 2020, the Liechtenstein public prosecutor brought charges against Aurelia Frick and her former general secretary on suspicion of abuse of official authority .

The former Secretary General has lodged a formal complaint with the Liechtenstein Supreme Court against the indictment. Aurelia Frick, on the other hand, waived this appeal.
