Mauro Pedrazzini (born June 15, 1965 in Eschen ) is a Liechtenstein politician ( FBP ). Since March 27, 2013, he has been part of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein as a government councilor responsible for the Ministry of Society .

Pedrazzini has a doctorate in physics and lives in Eschen.

biography

Mauro Pedrazzini graduated from the Liechtenstein grammar school in Vaduz in 1985 . He then studied physics, chemistry and astronomy at the University of Bern , where he also worked as a research assistant at the Laboratory for High Energy Physics from 1990 to 1991 . He obtained his doctorate in 1996 at the Research Center for Plasma Physics at the ETH Lausanne . From 1992 to 2001 he also held several positions at Balzers AG , including project manager, engineering manager and the research and development department. At the same time, Pedrazzini completed part-time business studies from 1997 to 1999 at the University of St. Gallen .

From 2001 until he entered government in 2013, Pedrazzini was a financial analyst and fund manager at the Liechtensteinische Landesbank ; from 2003 he was employed by their wholly-owned subsidiary LLB Asset Management AG and from 2006 head of share management.

In the legislative period from 2005 to 2009 he was Deputy Prime Minister Otmar Hasler , from 2009 to 2013 he was Deputy Prime Minister Martin Meyer . After the state elections in Liechtenstein in 2013 , Pedrazzini was proposed as a government councilor by the Liechtenstein state parliament and the Hereditary Prince Alois was appointed regent . As such, he heads the Ministry of Society, newly established in 2013, which includes the social, health, family and equal opportunities departments.

The newly formed state parliament after the state elections on February 5, 2017 re-elected Mauro Pedrazzini to the government council in its opening session on March 30, 2017. He, in turn, heads the Ministry of Society. This is responsible for the corporate and social policy of Liechtenstein, i.e. in particular for social assistance, social insurance (AHV and KVG) as well as for the topics of health, family and equal opportunities.

Since February 11, 2020, Pedrazzini has headed the "new coronavirus 2019-nCoV" team in the course of the COVID-19 pandemic in Liechtenstein , which is monitoring developments relating to the new coronavirus and coordinating necessary measures for Liechtenstein.
