The state election in Liechtenstein in 2013 took place on February 3, 2013 and was the regular election of the legislature of the Principality of Liechtenstein . All 25 members of the Landtag of the Principality of Liechtenstein were elected by the people of the country in the two constituencies of the Oberland and Unterland. The reason for this was the expiry of the four-year legislative period of the last parliament elected in 2009.

Starting position

In the state elections in 2009 , the Fatherland Union achieved 47.6%, the Progressive Citizens' Party in Liechtenstein 43.5% and the Free List 8.9% of the votes cast. The newly founded party The Independent Party (DU) ran for the first time in 2013, making four parties available for election for the second time in the history of Liechtenstein.

Some time before the election, the previous head of government Klaus Tschütscher (VU), his deputy Martin Meyer (FBP) and government councilors Hugo Quaderer (VU) and Renate Müssner (VU) had publicly announced that they would no longer run after the 2013 state elections. This left government councilor Aurelia Frick (FBP) as the only candidate from the previous government .
